Czech A2 Exam Day: Timetable, Rules and What to Bring
Knowing exactly how the day runs takes a lot of stress away. This is what happens on the day of the Czech exam for permanent residence, based on the official 2026 information for candidates.
What to bring
- Your valid passport. It is checked at registration and before the oral part, and it stays on your desk during the written part. No other document is accepted.
- Water and a snack for the waiting time — the oral part can be scheduled late in the day.
Phones, notes, books and any other aids are not allowed.
Timetable
- Arrive 30 minutes early. The exam usually starts at 9:00, and your school confirms the exact time. Document checks end 10 minutes before the written part. If you are late, you cannot take the exam that day, and you have to book and pay for a new date.
- Registration: you show your passport, sign the attendance list and receive a card with your registration number.
- Reading (40 minutes) and Writing (25 minutes) are written together, without a break.
- 15-minute break. You may leave the room; your things stay inside and your phone stays off.
- Listening (about 40 minutes). Each recording is played twice.
- Oral part (15 minutes). The order is set by the system. You may go first — or late in the afternoon or evening. Keep the whole day free.
Rules in the exam room
- Switch off your phone and put your bags, books, notes and all electronics where the examiner tells you.
- You cannot leave the room during the written part, except in the break — go to the toilet before it starts.
- Using a phone or any other aid can end your exam without a result, and the Ministry of the Interior is informed.
- At the end of the written part, you hand in all test sheets, answer sheets and your registration card.
Tips for a calmer day
- Know the format before you arrive — a full mock exam under real timing removes most surprises.
- Read the instructions and the example of every task first: they show exactly what an answer should look like.
- Write your answers on the answer sheet as you go, not in the last minute.
- In the oral part, speak in full, simple sentences. If you do not understand a question, ask the examiner to repeat it.
After the exam
You get your result within 9 days. If you pass, you collect the certificate at the school or receive it by post within 30 days. If not, you can retake the exam after three months. Details: Czech A2 exam pass mark: how scoring, results and retakes work.
